My name is Nikki. I love nature, I love beauty, and I love practicality. I am an adventurous hippy, often barefoot, but I am also a natural problem solver with an engineering degree. I find balance between these two traits and have realized that I can bridge the gap between two types of people: the hippy dreamer and the logical doer.
The hippy dreamer has no trouble cooking up creative ideas and making big plans. They can get the ball rolling pretty well, but as unforeseen obstacles arise, focus and effort wanes, and these great ideas remain just that…ideas…or messy piles of expensive materials.
The logical doer excels where the hippy doesn’t, in careful planning and realistic expectations. They execute what they set their mind to. However, this is often because their idea is conventional and the road map to success is very clearly marked. Nothing wrong with this approach- unless you want to prove the mainstream wrong and live in rewarding, regenerative, and revolutionary ways.
After living on five different homesteads and farms, I observed a pattern that inspired Divine Design Solutions. The pattern consists of landowners who had made rushed or uninformed decisions to start a project on their slice of heaven. As time went on, the gaps in their grand plans grew into full obstructions, and these projects became nuisances. Stressful, time-consuming, expensive, overwhelming great ideas gone wrong. It pains me to observe this scenario time and time again. And I believe that it doesn’t have to be this way! These projects can be rehabilitated for success with the help of fresh eyes, reorganization, realistic goal setting, and meticulous planning.
My experience is thorough and varied. I attended Northeastern University for a five-year environmental engineering program (Three internships while in school). Completed a natural building course with Earthship Biotecture. Month long programs studying sustainable waste management and climate data modeling. Worked in Civil Engineering as a land development consultant. Participated in work-trades that taught me how to grow food, raise animals, build with natural and recycled materials, regenerate depleted soil, design energy systems, and so much more. Permaculture Design certification…
Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
